Second seed Ana Ivanovic beat Magdalena Rybarikova 6-1, 0-6, 6-2 to reach the semi-finals of the Monterrey Open. It was a strange match which swung both ways. Ivanovic had her serve broken at the beginning, but then won six consecutive games against a bewildered opponent. The Slovak recovered and outplayed the match favourite to win the second set 6-0. The third set was similar to the first. Rybarikova broke in the first game, but then the Serb showed her class and went on to win 6-2. Ivanovic will now face Caroline Wozniacki in the semi-finals, after the third seed beat Pliskova 6-7 (3), 6-3, 6-3. The Czech surprised Wozniacki, forcing her into a tie-break, which she won 7-3. But the Dane then served well to win the match in 1 hour and 38 minutes.
